Through extensive negotiations with the land owner we have been able to save a significant portion of the original trail. Much of the land has been logged but is growing up quickly and will soon be used for additional trail mileage. For the time being the trail has been rerouted and rebuilt to take advantage of the remaining woods and terrain. The current trail is approximately 7 miles long with a total of 500 vertical feet of climbing (an amazing feat considering that the trail is in the Costal Plain). Many riders think the new trail is better than the old one, and it certainly is as good and is continuing to improve as it gets ridden and additional improvements are made. A map of the trail will be available in the next few months, please visit www.ecvelo.org for up to date information.

The trails are accessed from Short Bridge Road which is off of NC 43 approximately 2 miles south of Falkland. Drive approximately 1/2 mile down Short Bridge Road and look for a sign marking the start of the trail at a thin line of trees on the left side of the road. Parking is available in the back of the field that you pass before reaching the trail entrance.

If you want to use the trail you must:

1. Sign a waiver at either of the Bicycle Post locations. This only needs to be done once.
2. Either become an EC Velo club member or pay a daily rate of $2 deposited in a drop box at the trail head. EC Velo members get year parking pass. $2= day parking pass.
3. Make a donation to help pay the lease.

IMPORTANT! Once the drop box is set up, anyone without a parking pass will be towed. No one will be towed until the drop box is in place and information is posted at the trail head.

The trail is on private land and as such is paid for with a formal lease with the owner as well as liability insurance. A corporation called the Bicycle Post Off Road Trail Club Inc. has been established to secure the lease, etc. We may in the future lease the trail under the name of EC Velo. The cost of the lease is $2500 annually. EC Velo Cycling Club has agreed donate up to $1500 to help pay the initial lease. Geri Smith, the owner of the Bicycle Post has generously donated the insurance coverage for the trail amounting to about $1300 annually. Their willingness to support local trails should be recognized by all users of the trail. Please support the Bicycle Post as often as possible when you are in the Greenville area.
